Meet Your THerapist

Hi, I’m Jennah ScHMITT

Are you struggling to navigate changes and transitions in life? Having trouble with overthinking anything and everything? Perhaps your coping mechanisms are no longer serving you? I can help.

I am a creative, compassionate, and solution-focused mental health provider serving older adolescents (16+) and adults in WA, ID (and soon MT) who are experiencing life transitions and difficulties. I have a trauma-informed, yet direct, strengths-based approach that allows for ideal results with utmost efficiency. I am passionate about working in the areas of maternal mental health (perinatal/postpartum), emotional dysregulation, adjustment, anxiety, depression, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and burnout prevention and recovery.

Originally from Montana, I relocated to Spokane, WA in the early spring of 2020, right when the pandemic started! It wasn’t the move we were expecting as navigating social distancing and isolation made things more difficult, but it also allowed us time to explore Spokane and the surrounding areas, which we quickly fell in love with. During the pandemic, I realized that isolation and the lack of a village/community were really difficult and reminded me of a time when I experienced these same struggles - after having my first child.

Pregnancy and postpartum come with a lot of abrupt changes, transitions, isolation, and adjustments that can be difficult to navigate. I noticed that there were not a lot of mental health resources in the PNW or Montana for perinatal/postpartum individuals and it quickly became my goal and passion to be a resource for those struggling in one of life’s greatest times of transition and change. You don’t have to experience this change and transition alone.

I am also passionate about working with those experiencing anxiety, stress and burnout. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen a steady increase in individuals experiencing anxiety and high amounts of stress. It’s overwhelming, isolating and can be really exhausting. Anxiety robs us of our ability to be in the present. Life doesn’t have to feel this way and you don’t have to continue suffering with anxiety, stress or burnout. Let’s work together to find creative and applicable coping strategies that actually work.

My Approach

I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Maternal Mental Health. I utilize these modalities, along with several others, to provide a goal-oriented and holistic approach to your individualized care. In our sessions, you can expect me to offer a safe, understanding and nurturing place to process emotions, be vulnerable and explore new ways to cope.

Mental health is a journey and I find it an honor and privilege to walk alongside you in yours. You don’t have to do this alone.
